I was at my company's corporate office in San Angelo this past weekend, which is about 5 miles from nowhere, and 5 hours SW of DFW.
I happened upon an outdoor facility with full boards and a nice concrete slab... my only guess is that when the CHL's San Angelo Outlaws folded, the city didn't know what to do with the hockey infrastructure, and so they poured a slab at a city park.

looks kind of like bicentenial park in Southlake.
ya at first that's what I thought it was
I sure wouldn't want to be on the business end of any type of check into the fence......
we played full contact in a rink similar to that in Abilene when I was in high school. Looking back it was insane. One guy ended up in the hopsital after being on the receiving end of a hard hit into the fence. he was hospital bound for two or three days. Another guy broke his arm.
Dickie I bet you that is exactly what San Angelo did with their old boards. Now that you mention it, I think Abilene did the same thing with their boards. They built an outdoor rink after the Aviators folded. Casey Bird from the Silver Bullets played there I do believe.
I've taken a pretty legit hit from Bronze League Senator's own Matt Davis into a chain link fence not unlike that one. It's awesome.
In my defense, you got in my way...
