Week 7 Partial Recap

Apparently the scoresheets from Saturday's games haven't been loaded into League Lineup yet, so we can only talk about games that we witnessed first hand.

  • Thursday at the Parks, the visiting Spider Monkeys screwed the Arlington Bolts out of their first win. Get it, heheh, screwed. bolts. haha.
  • Game 2 on Thursday saw the Arlington Rangers pull out their 3rd season victory over the Arlington Capitals.
  • Silver Bullets almost hit their target but a few misfires during the shootout put the Arc Angels in the win column.
  • In case you haven't yet heard, the Stingers ran out of time against the Ice Gators. Ice Gators wanted wanted the upset in a baaaaad way. Apparently there was some bulletin board material posted on teh interwebz that motivated the Gators to play out of their minds. Way to go Dickie Dunn.

Dickie Dunn Says Carbonneau to Dallas Bench

You heard it here first.

Fact: Yesterday Bob Gainey gave Guy Carbonneau a "Vote of Extreme Confidence" as the Montreal media have been whipping his ass because they aren't in first place. In Montreal, the scrutiny is as extreme for the Habs as it is for the Cowboys here.

Fact: Habs fire Guy Carbonneau today at 4pm CST.

Fact: Bob Gainey to take over the bench in Montreal. Former Stars personnel Doug Jarvis and Kirk Muller keep their jobs as Habs leiutenants.

Fact: You won't find two closer guys in all of hockey than Gainey and Carbonneau

Fact: Gainey and Carbonneau are extremely closely connected to the Dallas Stars, having brought Tom Hicks a championship along with current Stars Co-GM Brett Hull. Not to mention that Guy's daughter is married to Stars' captain Brendan Morrow.

Fact: The Montreal plane took off from Dallas at 3pm today, when the normally they would have flown straight home at the end of a road trip. Apparently many of the Habs players were pretty ticked.

Fact : Dave Tippett is S-T-R-U-G-G-L-I-N-G

OK, enough facts, here's some wild assed speculation.

Maybe Gainey and Carby were negotiating a coup and aligning the Stars (pun intended) for an injection of some good old fashioned nepotism.

I predict that within 48 hours the Dallas Stars will name Carbonneau the new head coach.

Hully & Mo's

After experiencing 3 (count em, three!) meltdowns of epic porportions in hockey this weekend:

-Stingers run out of time vs Ice Gators
-Stars get French Fried by Les Habitants
-Texas Tech hockey blows a 1 goal lead in 2nd frame to lose 10-4 vs Oklahoma

I went and drowned my sorrows at Hully & Mo's.

Verdict: Really nice, swanky place, and priced to match. Paid $6 for a beer. Sat at the bar next to a (Current? Former?) Dallas Cowboys player I did not recognize. If this guy makes plays on the field as well as he was making plays at these two blondes, he would be a pro-bowler. The bartender was a cutie and knew hockey.

I'd recommend everyone go check it out, just to say you did it. Me, I'd rather pound Keystones at ZuRomas.

Razor is a genius.

Sorry for the delay. I have to take a short lunch today and will post recaps this evening.

To tide you over, may I suggest checking out Razor's blog? Today he's got a thousand word essay on the state of the Stars after 6 straight home losses.

...The problem right now?

Hell that’s easy - Right now they couldn’t score at the Bunny Ranch with a fist full of fifties...
