Week 7 Matchups - Schedule Preview

Thursday @ Ice at the Parks Mall

8:15pm Spider Monkeys (0-6) vs Bolts (1-5-1)
13th Ranked meets 14th Ranked, as the winless Spider Monkeys make their first trip to the sauna to take on the Arlington Bolts.

9:45pm Arlington Caps (2-4-1) vs Arlington Rangers (5-1-1)
Series Sweep? The Caps and Rangers meet again, with the Rangers trying to win their 3rd this season vs the Caps. The last meeting ended with Rangers winning in an overtime shootout, and the first meeting this season ended with the Rangers winning by only one goal.

Saturday @ NTYEX

4:30pm Silver Bullets (2-3) vs. Arc Angels (2-4)
Matinee Game - 12th Ranked Silver Bullets try to get to the .500 mark in their inaugural season. 11th Ranked Arc Angels have lower offensive production and more goals allowed despite having played one more game than the Silver Bullets this season.

6:00pm Arlington Sens (4-2) vs. Dallas Lady Stars (4-2-2)
This is an high powered offense meeting a brick wall defense in the Lady Stars' Defensive Zone. The Ladies' goalie is only allowing an average of 2 goals per game, and the Sens are averaging over 6 goals scored per game. The X factor here is how many beers the Lady Stars' goalie pounds before the game.

7:30pm Stingers (6-0) vs. Ice Gators (4-2)
May God have mercy on the souls of the Ice Gators.

9:00pm Keller Indians (4-2) vs. Jaguars (2-4)
Former Bronze Champion Keller Indians are not where they used to be, but still within reach of a playoff berth - The Jaguars have suffered from a lackluster defense but score their fair share of goals.

10:30pm Senators (2-4) vs. Mid-Air Collision (3-2)
Well, I tried as hard as I could to come up with some insight into this game, but really, it's a couple of spare mid-pack teams with no self-evident talking points. I've got a big bag of nothing here.

Open Roster Spots

The Silver Bullets coordinator is looking to fill several roster spots - Looks like you can contact her from the Bronze League Facebook page - link is over to the right, and up a little.

Oven-Fresh Standings after Week 6

With six weeks down and four weeks left, here are the standings.

Note that the Arlington Rangers have leapfrogged the Dallas Lady Stars. This is because the Arlington Rangers were credited with a tie in their game vs the Arlington Capitals for some reason.

A fair bit of time was spent making sure this is all correct, according to available information. If the league office is reading this, please email me and let me know if it matches your records.

NYTEX Casino Night Friday March 6?

I can't find any reference to it on the NYTEX site, but there was a poster up on the bulletin board that was talking about a Casino Night at NYTEX this Friday.

I think it was $40 or $50 to attend - Does anyone else have more details?

There is a Brahmas game also that night, not sure if it is before or after the game.

Thursday Night Drop-In Hockey

Not sure if everyone knew it or not, but there is a Sr. Drop-In Hockey session every Thursday night from 10:15pm to 11:30pm on the West Rink at NYTEX

Let's use it or lose it!

Dickie Dunn Doesn't Facebook, but...

Dickie Dunn, author of this blog, is an old school cat who doesn't understand the whole facebook phenomenon. But apparently some of the other Bronze Leaguers enjoy this faddish, voyueristic timewaste that is sweeping the nation, and they have created another Bronze Leaguer hangout on their little corner of the internets. And they were nice enough to include a link back to this blog, so I'll throw them a bone.

Here's the NYTEX Bronze League Facebook Group:

Can we get a cup of flour over here?

Week 6 - Results and Recaps

Thursday 2/26/2009 Games:

Arlington Capitals 5
(Nytex)Senators 4

Sorry for a lackluster recap of this game but League Lineup didn't list any player or box scores for this one, just a final result.

Arlington Bolts 9
Arlington Sens 8

Arlington Bolts get their first win of the season! Looks like it was a bloodbath for both goalies with 17 Goals scored total in this game.

Saturday 2/28/2009 Games:

Ice Gators 3
Indians 2

The Gators chomped down on the Indians. Indians goalie Ryan Kelly was busy Saturday Night with the Gators putting 39 shots on the net.

Stingers 8
Mid-Air Collision 4

Mid-Air Collision couldn't keep the Stingers offense grounded despite "The Total Eclipse" allowing an uncharacteristic 4 goals. Things got chippy with a couple of minutes left in the 3rd.

Arlington Rangers 7
Jaguars 4

Arlington Rangers pulled out front early, but they ran their tank dry with only 6 players and their goalie. Jaguars came on strong late in the game but the 5 goal deficit late in the third was too much even for a strong Jaguars bench.

Arc Angels 2
Dallas Lady Stars 1

Upset of the week: Arc Angels pulled off the OT upset vs the Dallas Lady Stars (the ladies now have 2 Overtime Losses, meaning their points total keeps them 2nd in the standings.)

Silver Bullets 2
Spider Monkeys 1

Spider Monkeys fell to the Silver Bullets in a close one, that went into OT and was 1:09 from a shootout, when the Silver Bullets got one past the Spider Monkey's netminder Mike Best. Final Score 2-1.
