requintIt's a sad day in the world of Dallas / Fort Worth ice hockey. I would never have dreamed that the StarsCenter would have even thought about closing a rink especially in this area. This rink was home to a few high school teams as well as a host of other mite, squirt, bantam etc. house leagues. What a shame...

I guess we need to look on the bright side of things... Now there should be an influx of people looking to buy icetime at the remaining rinks around the area, so maybe NYTEX will benifit somehow someway in the long run.

Plus, there will be a place for people to go that would normally have gone out and hung out with friends on the street corners.....

3 of my players are from Duncanville Stars center. So, maybe more will follow.

I've got money that says the bob knight field house closes to. if Nytex gets an rush of players from duncanville how would this effect our ice time and leagues we already have.

The BK field house will not close as running that type of operation has a very low overhead.

The Duncanville effect will spill over to NYTEX. Euless will see an influx of players which leads to more marginal ice times which will lead to some bump over players to NYTEX. Perhaps on the bright side NYTEX will justify opening up the West rink again thus letting us partake of food and drink while watching our fellow Bronze league brethern go at each other.

Any players that come to NYTEX from Duncanville or from any other rink for that matter probably won't have too much of an affect on our playing time. It should mean that with more players comes more revenue for NYTEX and a bit of "job security" for the rink and that translates into "rink security" for those of us that play here....

Wake up folks. That is three sheets of ice gone in less than 12 months. Who is next. Mr. hix is facing significant finacial problems. Don't be suprised to see more rinks fall. I truly hope this is only a isolated incident. We need to support our local rinks. Keep inviting new players to hockey if the numbers keep groing the ice will return. Just my two cents. I know we have room on the i-league teams, so lets get recruiting.

I doubt that nytex will re-open the other rink. Soccer is alot easier and cheaper too keep up with. I would love to see more teams in the league and bigger teams in the league.
