Week One

Week One is in the books, and there is still no word on the two new teams. This probably means our little league will stay 8 teams this season, which is fine and dandy with me.

Week One saw some blow outs. The Ice Kings smoked the Bandits in the new franchise battle. 8-0 was the score, Handits seemed to be hampered by a lack of defense. Kings look strong. The Silver Bullets beat the Senators 6-4. Senators seem to have lost all their D men from last season, and are adjusting to a new lineup. The Jaguars made a statement with a 7-1 whopping of the Spider Monkeys. And the Stingers took down the Indians 4-3 on the heels of Steve Meeks hat trick.

It is way to early to speculate, but looks like this season has a different feel from last season.

It seems like the Silver Bullets beefed up their roster with some Silver league players and unleashed the C league player Bird to take slap shots from the Blue line all game and score a few goals. When you play the Bullets wear a cage because Bird shoots high at face level and will hurt someone. It is amazing how much a few Silver league players can change a team.

The Monkeys only had 6 skaters, and did a pretty decent job hanging in there.

I find this league comical. As I recall, the Silver Bullets have pretty much the same exact roster from last season including this Bird guy. No one had a problem when they were losing 5 or 6 straight games. I watched the game and can't disagree with you more about the play of their so called "silver league" players. None of their better skaters played at their full potential. As far as Bird is concerned, I saw him take a snap shot from beyond the blue line that was misplayed by the goalie and not the sniper that you are referring to. I did see him continually pass the puck to all of his teammates, more than I can say about Roger Bishop, who seemed content to skate end to end with the puck. I look forward to playing the Silver Bullets as they seem to be continually improving and have right kind of leadership in place to help this league build from the ground up.

Lets try to not be so anonymous with our comments. This is the first week, lets try to not jump to conclusions on any teams or players just yet.

The Silver Bullets have the same roster as last session plus 2 new people (One of which I know this was his first ice game ever. And he scored on an amazing intercepted pass. Grats Turner).

Yes Kacy did hit someone in the head with a shot, but all was forgiven in the locker room, and (it was one of the new players!) she will be back next week on our bench.

Don't pretend just because we won that the Senators didn't have a few people that could easily move up. The only difference? We leave a couple very strong skaters on defense, while they left their strongest skater (Bishop) at center. Our defense shut number 8 down all night, save for the one goal on a mental error of MIKE KRAJEWSKI (ha Tim.).

Sorry if this comment seems a bit scattered. I just woke up.

Oh, if you guys want to see a good game. Be there next Saturday for the Bullets/Ice Kings game. 5:45PM and it's going to be a whopper.

What is the current bounty on #99 for the Ice Kings Head? I hear he is planning on roughing up the Bullets for kicking him off their team.

Senators #23 said...

If you have noticed the two best Senators were moved up and now only play in the Silver league unlike Mr. Bird. Also, that new player is far from inexpierenced as he works at NYTEX and has plenty of skating/hockey expierence. It might have been his first formal game but not the normal guy that comes in and does not know how to skate. Also, Bishop went end to end once or twice and it was late when were down by 2 and trying to score quick. Also, we had a true new player (never even skated before) score so congrats to Tony. We were a pretty new team playing together for the first time with only one guy that has ever played D before. See any real Silver league playing with us? As far as the people that could move up they all have. Lets see everyone else do it and make this league right.

Brandon - #68 Bullets. said...

They weren't there, but with Fred, Guntar, and Bishop. Your team has just as many "Silver League" players as ours.

Senators #23 said...

There is a big difference between Bird and those guys. Mac and Matt are moved up and no longer with us at the Bronze level. Bishop scored one goal and Fred has only scored 2or 3 goals in his Sens career. You complain about Gunter but you most likely wanted him on your team just like the other teams.

Tim Krajewski said...

I love how everyone likes to point the finger then second they lose. Kacy is a good player he teaches everyone on the team how to play better hockey. Sens players can get their pantys in a bunch all they want. That half ice goal he had was 100% the goalies fault, he dumped the puck and was heading for the bench when it went in.

If anything we have a weaker roster going into this season then we did last season. Just like they guy above said, no one cared when we lost 6 in a row. Now we finally start talking and working as a team and you call our guys C league players. I will take that as a compliment that you think we are that good.

Thanks- #23 Bullets

PS: XOXO for putting our real logo.

Brandon #68 Bullets. said...

I'm not complaining about Gunter, actually, I'm good friends with him and suggested that he stay in the league. I suggested he join one of the weaker teams as well, citing the Bandits or Jaguars (I wasn't then aware of all the great moves both teams pulled to get some great players on their team).

But to completely disregard the obvious similarities in the way our teams are made up is a bit ridiculous.

Gunter - Bird
Bishop - Suits
Fred - Harrison

The teams are very much so "stacked" evenly.

Sens #23 said...

For me it is not about just the Bullets. If we win I say the same thing. The slap shot yes most likely could have been stopped but that is the first time in 2 seasons I have seen someone dump it in the top corner at that speed from that far away (did not know I leaguers could do that). He knew what he was doing when he hit that shot. He is a upper level player trying take advantage of less expierenced goalie, which I guess is fine. Also, not to put all the blame on the Bullet Silver league guys Bird and Suits. Our defense did not play great because most of them did not know how to play D. and even our expierenced D guy got picked right in front of our goal for a Bullet score (sorry Fred). By the way I do believe remembering alot of people saying Bird needed to move up not just this season.

I don't think I remember reading one post last season about the way Kacy played the game and how he should move up. The way I see him, he is an asset to this league and to his team. I see him talking to his teammates on the bench, on the ice, before and after games. I wish he was on my team and trust me, I tried to recruit him away pretty heavily.

Anonymous said...

It was not a slap shot, it was not moving that fast, the goalie tried to catch it from across his body. He misplayed it and it went into the net.

I was watching the game from the stands, maybe that is where you need to be if you are going to whine about trivial stuff like this.

To counter your point about how great Kacy playes, he was scored on for three of the Senators goals. They were all scored on him as it appeared he was backing away from the offensive players. Letting these players skate the puck in and taking a shot. From my perspective, that isn't a "c" league player stepping up to control the game.

You know what this league will always have ringers that use the teaching excuse to help fuel there I am the best thing and I leaguers who us the same excuse to help there I want to win thing. It will never change here. We might as well just forget about it and move on.

Sens #23 said...

You know what we got beat because we played bad defense and let some goals in. We are a pretty new group trying to mesh together and learn with each other. Good job Bullets and now lets move on to the next game. My guys showed alot of improvement during the process of that game and I hope it continues to next week. I am happy with the group I have and think this season will be fun win or loose.

Killer Carlson said...

Alright kids, lets remember what we are playing in, an ADULT hockey league. Lets dont degenerate into he said she said, and other childish antics.

The facts are, not everyone is the same skill level in this league. There are guys who can skate, and guys who can shoot. There are girls who can skate and girls who can shoot. At the opposite end of the spectrum there are guys like Tony Rice for ths Senators who doesnt have two hours of ice time in his entire life yet.

Each week we will have four winners and four losers with 8 teams in the league. The playoffs are where it matters, lets dont let week one ruin the whole season.

I agree with Killer Carlson. I get a good laugh when I read these blogs so I have to thank all of you out there that take the time to post.

I agree. It is so funny to just see how you guys just attack each other and just act like little kids. I like the entertainment! :)
But in defense of the silver bullets they do have the exact same roster with an exception of a couple of people.
Also want to give a shout out to the spider monkeys for bravely playing with only 6 players. I know my team gave them a good workout that night.

hahah first off your an idiot or clearly have not watched more than 15 seconds of me playing if you think that my style of play is skating end to end with the puck whiney little sissy boy.
never less yeah we are mostly new people who have not played together on the team, some have never played hockey before so when we stack up against a team that’s been together of course they have the upper hand and beat us fair and square. yeah they have great players who are above 99% of all other I-league players. Brandon #68 claims that i was the best skater on our team that night and that he and the other guy had no problem shutting me down except for the one goal. That’s true they didnt have a problem handling our team, yeah obviously they are much better than most all of us and im sure it gets frustrating for some. However i do think that its good for the league to have players like Brandon and their other d-guy as long as they are taking time to teach and help the new guys learn the game of hockey which apparently they are doing. I think that this league would never get better if it wasn’t for the really good players out there who are helping the rest of us get better. When you play against them you have to play harder to keep up thus making you a better player in the process so I think it benefits everyone. We got whooped but that’s alright, it was a fun game and it was not because they "brought in ringers". Nobody can deny that this leagues talent has grown leaps and bounds from the i-league it was a 4-5 seasons ago, we have all gotten much better because of players who challenge us to get better

You people are all arguing and being stupid for no reason. Here are a couple facts for you.

A) Everyone makes the playoffs
B) Chic Fil A Waffle Fries are the best Waffle Fries ever made
C) The Moon Landing Never happened. If it did we would be able to go back quicker than 2020, which I heard now is not even possible.
D) OJ Simpson is innocent, his oldest son Jason did it. He had rage problems, was in love with Nicole, and on drugs. OJ took the fall for his kid, cause he knew that if the glove didnt fit, he could aquit.
E) I heard that the Jaguars are waiting on immigration papers to come through so their new Swedish superstars can join the team and they retake the cup.

yeah the shot casey took was a dump that i messed up on.. i played against/for the bullets atleast 4 or 5 times last season and he did that several times...just happens to be that that one i missed.. as far as them moving up yeah they could and they are but at the same time they are teaching all of us to play and making their team better as a team, just as gunter does for the sens, gaydos does for the jags, and so on and so forth, I did enjoy the posts though....kept me awake during my 2 hour managment class

lol the Jaguars look like they actually have a pretty good team this season even if the swedish superstars immigration papers dont go through...anyway Zack Gaydos cant be stopped when he is missing his front teeth so ill pretty much give them the keg now.

Uhhh, not so fast. They faced a Spider Monkey team with 6 on the bench, no ringers, and one of those 6 was his first time on the ice....

Killer - I also think this season has something missing. It's missing the Dickie Dunn element.

Or more accurately, Dickie Dunn is missing the Bronzw League element in his life.

I love the waffle fries!!!!! I can't believe it. I was mentioned as a ringer. WOW!!! Thanks Mike oops Tim. The Sens vs Bullets was a hard fought fun game. We lost and thats that. Hey this "ringer" made a cross ice pass from inside his zone that was intercepted and put home for the game winner, GREAT JOB Ethan!!!
I saw a lot of new players in the league. I have enjoyed my first full year on skates and enjoy seeing others share in the fun.
As far as ringers go.... Lets make sure the upper level players don't control games. I did not see it last week personally.
Hey Gator 156 I heard that Jimmy Hoffa was buried on the moon.
Thanks Jared for throwing me under the Bus.

seriously all this after one week? wow is about all i can say. and for everyone that complains about people playing down or in two leagues. this is 100% the rinks fault they are loose on the rules and have only gold silver and bronze if they had a b c d i it would solve alot of issues. because trust me ive spent the past three weeks getting my ass handed to me by teams with 6 plus gold league players on them playing silver. so look at it this way each team having one or two people from higher leagues isnt bad. and yeah those games sucked but i really enjoyed the challenge and felt like i got better from the experience. like the commercials say hockey is for everyone there are just many of yall who have the wrong attitude about things. i know i get pissed alot but thats because i want the rules to be the same for every team no special treatment crap. but what do i know im just a 19 year old kid right? whos been playing hockey for two years now yay!!!! hahaha its funny how those who put extra work in and play every chance they get start to improve. and those who are content to one hour a week stay crappy.
but yeah thats just my opinion on things after all blogs are for opinions right?

If this league were full contact how would things be different?

Uh, don't be such a hater. Speaking for myself I can only allocate one hour a week toward hockey as I'm working two jobs to make ends meet. Don't assume the crappy player who puts in the one hour a week doesn't want to improve or loves the game any less than YOU!
