The stage is set for the Quarter Finals

Its all set folks. Last night the Silver Bullets handled their business against an uber small rostered Jags squad. One person on the bench was not enough to hold off the offensive attack from the Bullets. Now the Jags will play the Spider Monkeys in the final game of their seasons for the Bronze Cup this Saturday at 11:30. Moving on to the next round we have Mid Air, and of course the Silver Bullets. Both of these teams face an uphill battle as the Bullets have Bronze League powerhouse, the Keller Indians, and the Airport boys have to take on the mighty three time champ Stingers. Before I move on, I still haven’t seen the stats from the play in games, so I cant really comment on what all happened. I know Mid Air won a feisty battle against the Monkeys. CHL Journeyman Aaron Davis refereed the contest, and said it almost got ugly. I think the main story in the Jags Bullets game was the short bench. Having only one sub makes for a difficult and exhausting night.

So on to the Quarters. Indians and Bullets, and I have to go with the Indians here. They are just too deep, too strong, and play great as a team. Not too mention their netminder, Ryan Kelly, is a rock between the pipes. For the Bullets to have a chance in this one they are going to need to play together, and their defense is going to have to step it up. D is going to have to keep the puck in the zone, and prevent breakaways. If they can do that it will be up to the SB snipers such as the Birdman to find an empty spot in the back of the net. The Bullets have many capable scorers, the only problem is that the Indians are loaded with snipers as well. Kyle Kelly can easily light the lamp from the blue line at any given moment. I say 6-3 Indians in this one. Sorry Bullets, that Tribe is mighty strong.

Now the other play in winner Mid Air will face the Yellow and Black attack from the Stingers. Mid Air has shown some big signs of improvement, and is on a win streak. The only thing is that the Bees are looking for another Keg, and will be relentless. Roland and Meeks have been having fine seasons, and those are only two names on a list of about a half a dozen that can score at will. The big question is whether or not Dave Mulvey will be in uniform for the Stingers. The heart and soul of the team has been in talks with a Finnish I League team. Apparently coach Fenili is trying to trade Mulvey to the Gerstunkin Gefelterfish of the Finnish Premier I League. Last report talks were stalled out after Fenili rejected the first proposal of Mulvey for three pucks, a block of stick wax, and a fresh sheep’s head. My sources indicate Fenili is after no fewer than ten pucks which would make the Mulvey trade the biggest in Nytex Bronze League History. Stingers win this one 2-1 in overtime.

Rumor has it that the Bullets started a collection right after their victory over the Jags. The funds should go towards a Kelly family reunion. Reservations are made for the family this Saturday at Babe’s Chicken. Party starts at 5:30 PM. BTY, it’s not Babe’s Roanoke location, which is too close to NYTEX, but the one in Carrollton…

Who's collecting the money for the Kelly Family reunion?

I see it as killing two teams with one reunion. Seeing the Hurricanes use Ryan as their goalie too.

I have heard they are in negotiations to obtain the rights to their back up goltender, Ryan Kelly but that negotiations have hit a snag because the Indians don't want to give him up.

dont you love it when the game results are up & have no info on the game ,players stats etc. Do we pay for this.?? Pointstreak looks good ... That would be nice...

Regarding the stats. Sometimes the ref misses who got the assists, and just credits the guy that scored. Sometimes the guy that scored has a different number than what is on the roster. Sometimes team coordinators dont even turn in a roster. And sometimes the scorekeeper writes so illegibly that its hard to tell what the hell happened in the game.

In order to keep accurate stats, after a goal is scored you could have your captain or alternate captain skate over to the ref and remind him who got the assist and the goal as he tells the scorekeeper.

In the case of Mid Air vs. Spider Monkeys, the handwriting on the scoresheet was hard to read, and there were only five names for Mid Air on the sheet with no roster attached.

This week the guy that inputs the stats into the computer is away from his office in a training seminar in Collin County. We got the scores in, and will put the stats in asap.

Just make sure all the coordinators have accurate rosters that they turn in each game, and that the refs know who to credit assists and goals to.

And Point Streak wouldnt make a bit of difference, it still comes down to the scorekeeper and ref getting the information correct.

About how the scores go up but none of the player stats. I think you see it just at the wrong time. Because it happened last week but all I did was check back like 30 min later and it was all up. So I think thats when they are updating it all. Also I think to have the stats run more smoothly what teams can start doing is after the game or after a goal give your stats sheet to the people in the box. That way they are getting what the team thinks is right. I dono just a thought.

Sorry about not gettting the stats in the computer on the playoff games. I will fix that ASAP. I have been driving three hours a day to a killer training course in Frisco. I have several hours of study each night. Hopefuly after this class I can get back on schedule. Killer is correct on the stats. I can only put in what information I receive. If it is botched by the ref or scorekeeper I am not Kreskin therefore it goes as they report it. I can say that the coordinators need to make sure rosters are turned in acurately and the numbers and names match the players out there.
