Last week and this week

Just three games remain in the regular season. Looks like the number one seed in the playoffs is going to go to either the Canes, Stingers, or Indians. The Indians are tied for the top spot right now with the Stingers, but the Canes are just one point back and have a relatively easy road the rest of the regular season. The Angels and Mid Air are fighting to get out of the play in round. Mid Air with 9 points, and the Angels with 8, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top with the #6 seed.

Last week we had games on Wednesday and Thursday for a change. The Wednesday night games were all very close contests. The Indians used their coach and upper level player Dan Custred to fight off the swarming Stingers 4-2. The Angels squeaked out a win vs the Gators 2-1. Speaking of the Gators, “Wha Happened?” This team started the season so strong lighting up teams for 8, 9, 10 goals, and looking like a ferocious beast that could not be stopped. Now the team seems to hardly have anyone showing up for games anymore, and is struggling to find its way. The final game of the night featured the come back kids, aka the Jaguars beating the Spider Monkeys 4-3 in a game so close it could have gone either way.

Then Thursday we had two high scoring games. The first was the Hurricanes vs the Senators. The Senators came out fired up scoring two goals in the first minute of the game. However the Hurricanes massive attack was too much to handle as they take down the Sens 9-6. 44 minutes of penalties in this game. Let me repeat myself, 44 minutes of penalties in this game. Also Hurricanes defenseman #40 showcased his awesome stick handling and skating skills en route to a five goal night. The highlight of this contest was the brawl that broke out in the stands between some fans. Not sure exactly what all happened, I just know there was lots of cursing, screaming, and then fisticuffs in the lobby of the Nytex Sports Centre. Then the Bullets and Mid Air took center stage. Another high scoring game here between these two with the Bullets coming out on top led by the hat trick that Steve McNamara threw down.

Next week’s games:

Jaguars @ Ice Gators
4:15pm

Arc Angels @ Stingers
5:45pm

Silver Bullets @ Hurricanes
7:15pm

Keller Indians @ Mid Air
8:45pm

Tomcast Senators @ Spider Monkeys

Killer’s predictions: Gators go down to the Jags 5-2, Angels lose to Stinger 4-3 in overtime, Bullets lose to the Canes 14-3, Indians top Mid Air 6-5 in overtime, and the Senators take down the Monkey 8-5.

See you folks.

I am glad to see the Hurricanes showed there true color by bringing out there A leaguer who did not hold back and scored 5 goals. He was the only reason they won that game. He is a true Gold Leaguer. Its funny he has only played in two games this season vs (Stingers - 1 goal, 3 Asst/Sentaors - 5 goals). He is their third leading scorer and must have big ego issues. I guess he can not score in the Gold League so he scores on guys who do not even know how to stop. They did not need him either. They had plenty of subs.

You got it Steve, good playing out there. This league is getting so much better as a whole. The quality of play has increased dramatically from the past couple seasons.

I tell you, since the Jags got their team together, that game Wednesday night was very fun, and very on the edge our our seats. Too bad our goalie flopped on Ivanna's shootout shot.

On behalf of the gators im going to say that summer traveling and vacations are what is killing our team chemistry. plus im some kind of terrible at hockey all the sudden. so yeah for those of you who said i should be silver only and have no business in bronze im very inconsistent. and i have but 8 points on the season so yeah. plus we miss bruno hes the heart of our team.

The Jags v. Spider Monkeys was a great, close contest; possibly one of the best games of the year! There may be a lot more games like that if there weren't gold & silver league players playing down in the bronze league all the time.

What a weekend!! Ivana with a shoot out winner! One goal games, and spirited play by all teams. We have some new players to the league; some new to hockey and some have been playing for a while a long while. Lets hope those players will HELP those who are new to hockey. Steve great job on the hat trick. Now you need to get the assist hat trick. The playoff format is exiciting. I hope everyone comes out for the semis, all-star, and finals. Rumor is we might get the suites opened again. Great games last week. Lets have some great ones this week.

Beware everyone! Do not Yell Zach you suck as he skates by your bench! That just leads him to score on your team right after you say that. Lol

No mention of the fight on the ice in the Hurricanes vs. Senators??

It was a great fight. Seiwert vs. Quimby. A classic battle. Then Seiwert stops a fight in the lobby between Senators and Hurricanes fans, who would have thought it. Get in a fight then break one up.

TO #68 ARC ANGELS.

I am not trying to discredit you guys, just saying, this Hurricanes team has a mammoth offense, and Ryan Kelly is one of the best goal tenders in the league. They are going to be tough to beat.

Those 3 losses they have are very deceptive, I am assuming they had a few bad time slots that made it hard to get all their ringers out which is why they lost a few. I think they had one forfeit due to lack of players.

So the Bronze league is really becoming I league. I is for some individuals who are set out to show the beginners that they can score 5 or more. Or, if they play D, nobody will get trough them. Or, that they can brawl on or off the ice.

Shame, shame, shame…

I rather have a four team I-league where team rosters are established with lottery style draft every season, than a 6-10 team ego-fueling circus league.

I have heard that the league is going to be cleaned up for next season. There is already talk of an upcoming coordinators meeting and rules and regulations that teams will need to follow.

As for the ringers, this is a problem in every league across the metroplex. As long as Nytex puts some strict rules in place to prevent ringers and stuff things should all even out.

As for fighting, I think that is going to happen from time to time no matter where you are. Boys will be boys, hockey is intense and tempers will flare from time to time, we just all have to realize its not the NHL, AHL, CHL, IHL, or anything other than a recreational co ed hockey league and cooler heads need to prevail ALWAYS.

RINGER FOR HIRE

All that pent up frustration from not making the travel team years ago is at your disposal...

Qualifications:

> Can score at will provided it's against begginers (for a beer at Zuromas I can give a swarmy look at the opponents bench as I skate by)

> Can seperate the puck from a begginer so fast they won't know what hit em.

> Can fight if needed provided the opponent is a girl or a guy 50+ years old.

> Can double shift at the expense of lessor skilled teammates.

> Can and will cherry pick in the third during run clock

> Comes with massive ego no assembly required.

D league or better need not apply

Let the bidding begin!

I too wish the I-League was a true I-League but D League has the same problem (Knute Anderson and Mike Lee play D League!!). You got teams such as the Stingers who are a strong team up and down the roster and don't have an obvious ringer that belong in D. That causes less-skilled teams to seek out a ringer to combat them. Then they get all upset complaining about the ringer when they get beat. WTF!!

14-3. Not hardly, EAT IT!

14-3 was a little off, the Canes didnt have their gold leaguers out there I guess. The Killer was right about the prediction of 3 goals for the Bullets. The Canes fell 8 shy of my 14 goal predicition. Next week I wont give them so much credit.
