More League Rumblings

From my mole inside Nytex:

Several things of Bronze League interest. Big weekend in the bronze league, the Hurricanes shut out the Ice Gators. Which brings up an interesting comment made by Hurricanes Coordinator Scott ODonnell, "The Hurricanes are moving up to the D league next season." So say what you want about the Canes, at least they know they should and will move up.

The Senators and Indians finished a heated game knotted at 6 a piece. The game did have several moments of contriversy as Kyle Kelly scored four goals and single handedly brought the Indians back from what looked like a sure fire loss. Overtime was short as the first shot beat Senators Goalie Rush "Mexico" Rector.

The Silver Bullets and Hurricanes just finalized a trade (reports Bullets #156): Forward Greg Perry was sent to the Hurricanes for two hockey pucks. Kind of a lop sided trade, but the Bullets think that the pucks will fit in well.

Senators executed a coaching move as Steve Hall has stepped down as head coach, and Julian Waters will now be filling in his role behind the bench. Hall is the all time winningest coach for the Senators with a record of 9-8-1.

The Jaguars beat Mid Air Collission which now gives the new life Jags two wins on the season, and pulls them officially out of the cellar. Good work Jags. Your the comeback story of the year.

Also a sad bit of news as Gator #156 has aids.

Kudos to the canes for moving on to a more challenging venue.

Shame on others who are too scared to take the leap and stay lazy in the "Instructional" league.....

The hockey Gods will deal out karma as merited.

To all the cry babies. As soon as your team has a winning record make sure you move up. Or would that not apply then? What is the limit, winning the Keg, two winning seasons, or just anyone who beats your team. We get it!

Some players can't move up because the work nights and Saturday is the only night they can play. But I guess that's their problem and they should just not get to play.

I have spoken with NYTEX and they are going to put a tampon machine in the locker rooms for you.

Hey guys, Great games last week. There where only a couple of instances where things got out of hand with players. Senator/Indian game being one. The one thing I did notice was the teams that lost or where upset the week before came loaded for Bear.Stingers being the only exeption. It one case it worked out the other it didn't.Sundays Jags,Mid air game was a true I league game. Very tight close contest. The two players that are true D league players were non factors for the most part.I was very impressed with their restraint most of the game. I will be stepping down as coach of the Senators so I can Ref all the I league games with Bob. You all deserve to have two Ref's just like every other league. On a side note: if a team has to forfeit a game because they do not have enough players I will stay and ref the game between the two team even though the forfeit will stand. I understand some peaple can only play on certain nights of the week. By no means does that mean you can not play or you should find another team in a different division. It does mean you have to remember the division your in and respect the other skill levels your playing with. Their was a player on the Indians that didn't get to touch the puck all game. How is that right. Have fun!!! See you boy's Saturday. Hallsy

You want to give Kudos to the Hurricanes? Give me a break! Did you not see the game last week between the 'Canes and Gators? I saw it, and I also saw the looks on a few of their players as they skated off the ice. They sure looked quite happy with themselves.... Some of the comments were very tasteless as well. I won't repeat them, but will say I hope they are proud of themselves when they look in the mirror every morning. You guys are studs.........

You send shame to those who are "scared" to go to the Silver league? Come on..... do you really want to go there?

Hallsy, thanks for staying to ref the games even if they are a forfeit. Bob, thanks to you, too. For you guys, being a ref is a thankless job for the most part. Every call you make will be met with criticism from the team affected by the call. I shake you hands after each game not just because, but rather to show you my respect.

Bottom line is, this is not the NHL, as you know. The I league is one of the most difficult levels to keep on an even field for lack of a better term. The differences in skill is so varied, unless you had a true evaluation and distribution of players every couple of months, there is no way to even out the teams. Some guys develop at a faster rate. Some guys learn slower than others.

As far as guys who need to stroke their egos, well you can't stop that all the time, you just have to hope they go away as fast as they came in in the first place.

See you all on the rink.
