It looks like the city of Allen will be home to the next CHL franchise, Accordig to the Dallas Morning News:
Dallas oilman Doug Miller and former NHL player Steve Duchesne were announced Wednesday as owners of a new minor-league hockey team in Allen.
The team, which is affiliated with the Dallas Stars, will begin play in November in the Central Hockey League. It also has teams in North Richland Hills, Amarillo and Odessa...
...It will play in the Allen Event Center, currently under construction at Central Expressway and Stacy Road. The 6,200-seat arena is part of the new Village at Allen development that includes Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods and Super Target.

This can only be good for the Brahmas... the teams will be spread far enough apart that they shouldn't draw fans away from each other, but close enough that local media will pick up on the story and cover the games more closely.

Yeah back in the early-mid90's there was a strong rivalry between the Fort Worth Fire and Dallas Freeze. I remember sitting over there in that pitiful excuse for a hockey rink at Fair Park in Dallas, and how the fans would get into the action big time. My fondest hockey memory came during one of those rivalry games when the gloves came off before the ref had a chance to drop the puck. All hell broke loose before the game even got started. Fans were shaking the glass yelling, cursing, it was pure minor league greatness
